Senators Dean Heller and Harry Reid announced Senate passage of the bipartisan Nevada Native Nations Land Act. The legislation transfers land into a trust for six Nevada tribes: including the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony, and the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe. This will allow the tribes to build housing for members, preserve cultural heritage and traditions, protect natural resources, and provide opportunities for economic development. Reid called it an important step in righting wrongs from our nation’s past. Heller says he proud the Senate is empowering Nevada Tribal Leaders, who know best how to use the land.
