Douglas County District Attorney Mark Jackson says all evidence indicates the shooting death of a man in July 2015 by sheriff’s deputies was justified. 48-year-old Mark Perkins was shot and killed after investigators say he pointed two weapons at multiple deputies on Monument Peak Drive. Deputies who arrived in the Gardnerville Ranchos were told that Perkins was armed with multiple weapons, and had threatened his wife and told her he was going to shoot a police officer. He also told her he intended to kill a neighbor. As members of the SWAT team were getting ready to approach the home and evacuate surrounding homes, Perkins came out, and pointed two weapons at multiple deputies, who fired their weapons. Perkins was pronounced dead at the scene.
