Crews are mopping up a brush fire that started in northeast Washoe Valley last night. The Mason fire was held to just nine acres. Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District responded to to the fire just before 9:00 PM. Washoe County’s Raven helicopter, assisted with the initial attack, conducting four water drops before losing sunlight. The cause is still under investigation, but witnesses report target shooting in the area earlier in the day. Command has now been turned over to crews from the BLM.
