Last week’s consecutive days with temperatures above 100 degrees, had the air conditioners blowing. NV Energy customers in northern Nevada set a new all-time record demand for electricity that exceeded a record set July 2014. A new peak demand of 1,842 megawatts was achieved during the 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. hour July 28th. Pat Egan, Senior Vice President of Customer Operations for NV Energy, applauded the thousands of company employees who work year-round to make sure that the electricity is always available for businesses and homes during such critical times. NV Energy also used its successful demand response service, PowerShift Smart Thermostat, to significantly lower customer demand.
