Newmont Mining Corporation has just signed an agreement with the Silver State, the Department of the Interior, and Nevada Departments of Conservation and Natural Resources and Wildlife to rehabilitate sage grouse habitat around their operations. The area includes around 1.4 million acres of public land, and around 400,000 cares of Newmont’s private land. Newmont already has pilot programs in the works to reestablish sage in areas that have become overgrown with cheet grass. John Rouse with the BLM.
