National Championship Air Races Add Drones

UNR’s, “Nevada Advanced Autonomous Systems Innovation Center,” Drone Zone, will host Drone air races at this year’s National Championship Air Races. The drone races, presented by CKRC Hobbies and the Reno Air Racing Association, will be limited to 50 total entries. The racing class in the Drone Zone is “micro” up to 150mm, with 3 racers per race, 3 minute heat races and 5 minute main events. Drone racing will begin on Thursday, September 15, with racer check in, an open practice and round one qualifiers. The Drone Zone races will conclude on Saturday, September 17 with two main events. Prizes will be awarded to the top three pilots. The entry fee for Drone racers is $40 and includes admission to the National Championship Air Races for 3 days.
