The governor is expected to call a special session of the Legislature in about two weeks, to vote on the plan. Bob Fulkerson, with the Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada, says the project, which is backed by casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, is a waste of public money that would be better spent on more pressing needs.
A report last year from the Taxpayer’s Protection Alliance, a conservative nonprofit, found that taxpayers have spent nearly 7 billion dollars on stadiums for the N-F-L, without commensurate benefits to the public.
