The Navy wants to quadruple the land used by the Fallon Naval Air Station and has scheduled meetings to discuss it. The next is in Reno Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the Evelyn Mount Northeast Community Center. The Fallon Naval Air Station would use about 1,262 square miles under the latest proposal. The U.S. Navy is asking for an additional 604,789 acres and to renew the use of 202,859 acres. The Navy said it began reviewing its training ability at the Fallon Naval Air Station in 2014. The analysis showed that the size of the Fallon Ranges severely restricts the types of weapons that can be used, which limits training realism and effectiveness.
