The January police shooting of 28 year old Sergio Alvarado Morales has been ruled justified. The suspect had involved in a vehicle crash at McCarran and Smithridge, involving four vehicles. The Washoe County D.A. Chris Hicks says the knife wielding man was shot after a taser shot had little effect. He says officers feared for the lives of themselves and bystanders when Alvarado-Morales moved aggressively toward them with the knife, and that the suspect had held the knife to his own throat, and had threatened others.
