Amodei Tries To Amend AHCA

Congressman Mark Amodei  released a statement after submitting three amendments to the American Health Care Act.  Amodei says under AHCA, individuals deciding to re-enter the market after not maintaining continuous coverage,  would be required to pay a 30 percent premium surcharge. Congressman Amodei’s first amendment would exempt individuals living in a county with only one insurance provider – as is the case for residents in 10 counties across Nevada – from this charge.
Additionally, the AHCA provides certain tax cuts to health care companies. To ensure insurance companies are held accountable to the American people, Congressman Amodei’s other two amendments would require health care providers to verify a decrease in people’s premiums in direct relation to the tax cuts.  The congressman says, “After having the opportunity to provide testimony on each of these amendments, I look forward to each of them being made in order and having an opportunity to vote on them in the House before voting on the AHCA Thursday.”
