Official Declaration of Lemmon Valley State of Emergency

The City of Reno has signed a State of Emergency Declaration, due to flood threats in the West Lemmon Valley watershed, specifically the industrial buildings that surround Silver Lake in the Stead area. The declaration will help with the City’s efforts to secure federal funding and other federal assistance in the future. It activates additional resources and could allow the City to be reimbursed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency  for expenses. The City continues to monitor the situation, and is waiting for updated snowmelt runoff projections from the Desert Research Institute and National Weather Service. These projections will provide a more accurate forecast for Silver Lake water levels.
