Big Challenge to Repair Oroville Spillway

Experts in California warn of a “significant risk” to the state unless the nearly destroyed main spillway of the nation’s tallest dam is not repaired or rebuilt by the fall.  A new report says repair crews at the Lake Oroville dam have only a few months to make sure the spillway is in good enough shape for the next rainy season, which starts in November, or the state faces a “very significant risk.”  They will work around the clock and spend millions to get it done. More than 200,000 people were evacuated early this year, as safety officials worried the world’s tallest dam could be breached.
