The Washoe County School District Chief Financial Officer presented this year’s tentative budget to the Board of Trustees. Legally, the budget has to be presented, balanced or not. While the board did vote to approve the budget, it’s dealing with a shortfall of about $40 million.  District CFO Tom Ciesynski, says they’re trying to avoid both teacher layoffs and increased class sizes. The district has until June to present their final budget.  A public meeting is scheduled for next month.
