The Nevada Legislature voted on over 200 bills last night ahead of a midnight deadline, and those that passed will now move on to their opposite chambers. Some of the bills approved include Senate Bill 144 which would extend voter registration deadlines, and allow people to register on election day. Senate bill 236 would allow local governments to give permits for public marijuana use for special events. The Senate passed SB-344, which would prohibit marijuana packaging that could be considered attractive to children. A handful of bills focused on women’s issues were also passed. Senate Bill 253 would outlaw businesses with 15 or more employees from discriminating against pregnant women. Senators passed it unanimously. Senate Bill 122 would establish a public-private revenue stream for family planning clinics. It passed 12-9.
