Suspended Fraternity Sued in Death of Pledge

A fraternity is being sued in the death of an 18 year old pledge, who tumbled down a staircase at the frat house and died 12 days later from a traumatic brain injury. He was reportedly heaviliy intoxicated during the initiation ceremony. Sigma Nu’s charter was suspended for 15 years for violations of the student code of conduct after the death of Ryan Abele. The suit names several fraternity leaders, and the Sigma Nu Housing  Authority, and seeks 10 thousand dollars in damages, and medical and legal fees.
