Governor Signs Bills Focused on Law Enforcement and First Responders

Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval signed six bills into law Wednesday. One bill strengthens penalties for those who commit crimes against law enforcement and against first responders like firefighters, adding a potential sentence of one to 20 years. Another bill signed yesterday establishes a sentencing commission to “reduce recidivism and promote education, vocational training, and rehabilitation for criminal offenders.” Sandoval also signed a bill to construct a memorial to Nevada firefighters at the Capitol Complex in Carson City.
