Officials with the U-S Forest Service say the Hunter Creek Fire was was fully contained last night at about 8:00 o’clock. They say engine crews with the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest will continue active patrol of the area throughout this week. Firefighters say there are no active flames within the perimeter of the fire. The fire began early in the afternoon last Thursday and has burned 240 acres of brush, grass and timber.
Saturday morning, a small fire broke out on Kit Kat Lane near the Carson River and was quickly knocked down with under five acres burned. Meanwhile, The Coleman fire in Stagecoach had the potential to be bad, but crews were able to get it in under control before any structures were affected. Total acreage there is just over 20. And shortly after 11am Saturday a fire was reported in northeast Reno and again crews made quick work of the fire in the area of Wedekind and Montello. The fire did move to within feet of an apartment complex, but did not damage the property. The Lahontan Fire burning in Churchill County has also been fully contained.
