The former director of the Southern Nevada Water Authority says she’s delighted northern Nevada is out of the drought, but Pat Mulroy cautions against any complacency. She says it’s a year to year thing in northern Nevada, and a dry year can put the region into drought conditions pretty quickly. Mulroy says we still have to use water wisely, and conserve. She says we are vulnerable and rely on snowpack. Mulroy says we need a shakeup in regulations that do more harm than good, and refocus efforts to store and manage water better for people. She also says climate change must be taken seriously, it’s effects are already showing up in places like Miami.
