The Sierra County Sheriff’s Office is using dive teams to try to find an 11-year-old boy believed to have drowned in Stampede Reservoir. About 1PM July 10th the boy and a 14-year-old boy were in a canoe that capsized when wind picked up. Neither boy was wearing a life vest. The 14-year-old was safely pulled from the water, but the 11-year-old was not seen again after briefly re-surfacing immediately after the capsizing. Public access to Stampede Reservoir is prohibited until the boy is found.
