Some good news for residents in the Walker River Basin, it looks like they have seen the highest river flow and Lyon County says, the Walker River is beginning to drop. Many in the communities of Yerington, Mason Valley and Smith Valley have begun to take flood protection measures down. County Manager Jeff Page said that we may see high flows from time to time but we shouldn’t see flows like the river had earlier this year. All roads except Miller Lane are open at this time. Page explained that Miller Lane still has water flowing over it at spots. Once the water has receded County crews need two to three weeks for the road to dry out before they can assess the damage and make necessary repairs.
