A man drowned Saturday while swimming at Sand Harbor near the north end of Lake Tahoe.
Washoe County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Bob Harmon said the man went into the water about 5 p.m. and became distressed. Sand Harbor life guards were able to get him out of the water and began life-saving efforts. He was taken to a hospital in Incline Village and pronounced  dead. The man’s name has not been released. The Washoe County Medical Examiner is determining the cause of death.
