BYU Lifts Ban on Caffeine Soft Drink Sales

You can have a Coke and a smile on the campus of Brigham Young University. The Mormon owned school has ended it’s long ban on the sale of caffeinated drinks on campus. The drinks themselves were never banned on campus officially, but you wouldn’t find caffeinated drinks for sale anywhere at the University. The church in 2012 clarified that it’s health codes known as “The Word of Wisdom” discourages the use of coffee and tea, tobacco and alcohol, but doesn’t specifically ban soft drinks. They will be sold at campus sporting events as well. The church has always advised responsible use of foods and beverages, and many true blue Mormons avoid caffeine in any form.
