The Tahoe Fire and Fuels Team, which includes local, state and federal fire and land management agencies in the Lake Tahoe Basin, will start fall prescribed burns sometime this month. The burns are done to reduce wildfire risk, and make it a lot safer for those who live in rural areas in the basin. The burn plan takes into consideration wind speeds, temperatures, and humidity, and other factors before they ignite anything, so the team will be monitoring the weather and other conditions before the burns are approved.
