Lots Of Nevada Day Fun in Carson City Saturday

Let’s get this out of the way first, Nevada Day is next Tuesday, but many of the celebrations take place this Saturday. The 79th Nevada Day Parade is Saturday in Carson City. It is the largest and longest-running admission’s day celebration in the nation. Parade activities will start at 8 a.m. with a hot air balloon launch. Another event kicking off at 8 a.m. is the Nevada Day Classic Run/Walk. More than 500 runners and walkers are expected. At 10 a.m., military craft will fly over the streets to signal the start of the parade. The parade will begin at the intersection of William and Carson streets and finish at 1 to 2 p.m. The Nevada Day World Championship Single Jack Drilling Contest will start at 11:00 a.m. Senator Dean Heller’s free chili feed will take place at noon, in the upstairs banquet room at the Nugget. At 2 p.m. the annual Nevada Day beard contest will be held at the State Capitol. Also happening at 2 p.m., tours of the governors mansion will be open to the public from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
