A Reno woman has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for identity theft. 27-year-old Heather Carey pleaded guilty in June to one count of Obtaining and Using the Personal Identification Information of Another. At sentencing, the Washoe County D.A’s office argued for a prison term because of how Carey’s actions affected the victim, who is still trying to restore her credit, standard of living and good name.
