The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office has recovered two bodies in the last few months in Fallen Leaf Lake, thanks to a group called Bruce’s Legacy, a non profit that assists in search and recovery efforts. The first person discovered August 29th was a woman who investigators say drowned in 2001, but who’s body was never found. Search teams returned to the lake last month, and pulled an adult man’s body from the lake on the 27th. The team was looking for a 21 year old man who drowned in 1996 while boating, but found the unidentified man, who had a rope tied to his legs, with an anchor tied to the other end of the rope. The man’s body has been sent to Sacramento County Coroner for an autopsy, and DNA samples were sent to the California Department of Justice Crime Lab for identification.
