Democrat Amber Joiner Decides Not to Run For Re-Election in The Assembly

Why is two term Democrat Assemblymember Amber Joiner of Reno not running for re-election? She says the part time legislature is a financial hardship, and unsustainable for her family. She says she has found it impossible to find a full time job that isn’t a conflict of interest, or is able to accommodate her for the several months it takes to complete a legislative session every two years. She also suggests it’s a pretty tough job with no real pay or health insurance, and virtually no administrative staff for 20 months at a time.
