Snowstorm Predicted for Thursday After Warm Weekend

Although Sunday is kicking off the week with mostly sunny skies and above average winter temperatures, it’s not going to last for long.

A snowstorm is expected to make a moderate impact to the Sierras and the valley floor by Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

The storm is forecast to bring strong winds with snow; locations above 7,000 feet could see at least one foot of accumulation with several inches down to 5,500 feet.

The NWS said as Monday approaches, clouds will fill the sky with increasing winds as a weak system passes through Tuesday, with light snow above 7,000 feet, followed by tapering snow showers into Wednesday morning.

Roads are expected to be slick Tuesday evening due to the cold front drops through the region.

As for flights on Thursday morning, the NWS said turbulence is possible due to windy conditions.
