Nevada Assembly Speaker Jason Frierson, says “It’s time that we take the lead in establishing a culture in the legislature and in our state where sexual harassment is simply not tolerated.” The statement followed announcement of a program to combat sexual misconduct in the Legislature. The Legislative Counsel Bureau has recommended a contract with Van Dermyden Maddux, an investigations law firm with offices in Nevada and California. They’ll be voting on the proposal during their scheduled Tuesday meeting. Frierson says the Legislature is committed to ensuring that allegations of sexual misconduct are addressed thoroughly and in a timely way. He says the goal is to create an environment where victims of sexual misconduct or harassment feel empowered to come forward, free from retribution.
