Recall Against Two Democrat Senators Stalls in Court

The recall attempts by republicans against two Nevada state senators may not get too far, after a district judge ruled, forms being submitted by people who want their names off recall petitions, must be counted. Democrats say as many as 2,000 people signed forms asking for their names to be removed, and if that happens the recalls against Senators Joyce Woodhouse and Nicole Cannizzaro would drop below the minimum required to get the measures on the next ballot. The judge has now directed Clark County and the Nevada Secretary of State to verify every signature and count every removal request. Republicans have given no specific reasons for the recalls, nor have they alleged any wrongdoing by the recall targets except that they don’t like their votes in the last legislature. Democrats say the recalls have always been nothing more than an attempt by Nevada Republicans to reverse the results of the 2016 election.
