Four People Rescued After Avalanche on Mt Rose

Four people were rescued after an avalanche on Mt. Rose that occurred just before 10 o’clock Thursday morning. According to the Department of Transportation, continual snow throughout the morning on top of unstable snow created the perfect conditions for an avalanche to occur. The one vehicle that was caught was partially buried. All people were accounted for, and they were able to extract the vehicle. Once the area was cleared, additional avalanche control measures were taken throughout the day. The highway was already shut down in one direction near Incline Village after an accident involving an NDOT truck.
