Driving Distracted? RPD is Watching

(KOH) – Reno police are in the midst of a distracted driving enforcement operation.   April is Distracted Driving Awareness month, and Reno police have seen it all.  Everything from people shaving to putting on make up, reading books, and even clipping their toenails. RPD’s Tim Broadway says it only takes a few seconds to wreck your car, or worse.

Fines can range from around $175 for the first offense, not including court costs. If you’re caught three times in seven years, you could have your license suspended for six months to a year.   According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration distracted driving killed more than 3,400 people, and injured more than 391,000 people in the US in 2015.
