The Reno City Council is getting out of the ice rink business, and will lease or sell that operation to SK Baseball, with the rink staying at Greater Nevada Field. Apparently the coils that created the ice at City Plaza have been compromised, and based on costs, the council decided to make the hand off.

Mayor Hillary Schieve, a former competitive skater herself, says she thinks a private company can do a better job of running the rink than the city.
