Dustin Cooper has been convicted of first degree murder in Lyon County. Cooper was convicted in the March 2016 shooting death of his wife, postal worker Johnie Shadden. Investigators say the 26-year-old Shadden stopped at their home in Yerington on a break while working her job as a rural mail carrier. Shortly after that, Cooper called 911 to report his wife had been shot. She died at the scene from a gunshot wound to the torso. Cooper was arrested after an investigation led by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division with the FBI and Postal Inspector. Besides a possible life without parole sentence, the court will also impose an additional consecutive sentence of one to 20 years in prison for the use of a deadly weapon in the commission of the crime.
