Harrah’s Entertainment and Douglas County Sheriff’s Office recently teamed up to clean up the forested area behind Mont Bleu and Harrah’s Casino in Stateline. In years past the area has been known for a small group of homeless people who camp there illegally. A few members of Douglas County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team, along with employees of Harrah’s checked and cleaned up the make-shift campsites which contained bedding, furniture, drug paraphernalia and trash. They issued an illegal camping citation to one person. Sgt. Ron Elges of Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says there are health and safety issues they’re addressing in these camps, the sanitation issue, and the threat of wildfire for those camping there are concerns. Referral resources were available to those who wanted assistance. Harrah’s provided four dump trucks for trash, and each of them was filled to capacity.
