A Fernley man has been convicted of a felony hit-and-run that injured a motorcyclist last year. 53-year-old Robert Totman was found guilty of Leaving the Scene of a Crash Involving Personal Injury. He will be sentenced August 6th and could face 20 years in prison. Totman was arrested by Sparks Police during an investigation into a crash in June 2017 on Spice Island Drive. Police determined he had driven off after crashing his work pickup, while on duty, into a passing motorcyclist. The victim sustained injuries that resulted in the amputation of his left leg below the knee. Police found Totman more than three hours after the crash, and he was under the influence of alcohol, with a blood alcohol level of .280. Based on that, he was arrested for the hit and run as well as felony DUI. He pleaded guilty to the DUI charge, his third in seven years.
