The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a heat advisory through Thursday for much of northwest Nevada where temperatures are forecast to reach as high as 106 degrees. The advisory stretches from north of Reno as far south as Yerington and as far east as Lovelock. Excessive heat increases the chances for heat related illness, heat stress also is a concern for livestock and pets.
