A crew of 233 firefighters are making progress knocking down the Perry Fire, reducing it to 11,200 acres as of this morning.
Evacuations are in place for communities nearby. The cause is still under investigation.

UPDATE: 10:13 a.m.
The Perry Fire is now at 18,000 acres and full containment may take another week to achieve, according to the Bureau of Land Management.
A federal fire management team will take over handling of the fire on Monday.
The fire is 15 percent contained with one burned vehicle but no injuries or lost structures.
Voluntary evacuations remain west of Pyramid Lake due to the Perry Fire and Nevada 446 from Sutcliffe to just south of Nixon is closed because of the fire.
The public and livestock can use the Ironwood Event Center at 5600 Whiskey Springs Road as an evacuation center.

The Perry Fire has grown to 15,000 acres and is 15 percent contained as of late Saturday, said the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District.
The evacuation center has moved from Shaw Middle School to Ironwood Events Center on Whiskey Springs Road for both people and their animals.
