The Perry Fire in Palomino Valley is now fully contained. The fire burned 51,400 acres since it started on July 26th. Wind gusts reached 59 mph near Virginia Peak on Saturday but the fire did not jump the fire lines, but the wind stirred up enough ash, smoke and dust to prevent air operations over the fire. Fire crews spent the weekend firming up the perimeter and mopping up flames and smoke. All evacuation orders were lifted over the weekend. Officials estimate the fire has cost at least $2.6 million to fight.
