Berry Fire Fully Contained Near Washoe Lake

A fire in the Washoe Valley area on the south end of Washoe Lake was fully contained over the weekend. The Berry Fire was started when a large bird on a power line took flight and caused a short. That short caused a short on another pole and that second short caused two fires. One building was destroyed, and about 12 acres were burned. At one point, evacuations were underway at eight homes from High Camp Court off Franktown to Old 395 and east to List Country Road.
