Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Fatal Crash

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a crash that killed a man Monday night.  About 11PM Douglas County dispatch got a call from Lyon County dispatch about a crash somewhere in the Pine Nut Mountains. The people in the crash were unable to give information about their location because it was too dark and they couldn’t see landmarks.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office sent deputies, Search and Rescue and a drone crew to a possible GPS coordinate along with a Care Flight helicopter, based on telephone pinging. The helicopter crew found the crash off a trail in the Pine Nut Mountains in Douglas County.  One person was found dead; he has been identified as 29-year-old Elliott Jones of Carson City. Three more people were treated for minor injuries. The cause of the crash has not been determined, but Douglas County Sheriff’s investigators say alcohol appears to have been involved.
