Man Convicted of Road Rage Shooting

A man arrested for a shooting that injured one person in Carson City has been found guilty. 37-year-old Travis Mickelson was convicted by a jury November 9th of attempted murder with a deadly weapon, battery with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle. Sentencing is set for December 31 in Carson District Court. The Carson City Sheriff’s Office said the incident began at an AM/PM convenience store at U.S. 50 and Lompa Lane in Carson City. The victims and Mickelson had what the sheriff’s office described as an “encounter.” Mickelson left, driving east on U.S. 50 in a blue minivan. The victims, five in one vehicle, left a short time later and as they passed the minivan, Mickelson fired several shots at them. Thirteen shots hit their vehicle. Deputies found the victims at U.S. 50 and Deer Run Road. One person was treated for a gunshot wound to the arm, and released from a hospital.
