Placer County Deputies Arrest Man For Killing The Family Dog

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 31-year-old Auburn man after he allegedly decapitated the family dog and dumped the body in the trash. Christopher Michael Dougherty remains in the Placer County jail after deputies arrested him on suspicion of animal cruelty. Dougherty told family members he killed the family dog Milo, a 3-year old Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix. When deputies went to the home, they found Dougherty in bloody clothes and in possession of a knife that appeared to have white dog hair on it. No one could find Milo and the family told deputies there was also a rug missing. A deputy found Milo and the rug in the trash can.
