Earth Hour, a worldwide effort to promote sustainable practices and waste reduction by the World Wildlife Fund, is being recognized in Reno this weekend. The city is shutting down the Space Whale, the Reno Arch, and the City of Reno sign on city hall. Several casinos are also taking part, turning off all exterior, non-essential lights Saturday night. The Grand Sierra Resort’s Kasey Girgnon says their team has been prepping for the event.
The lights go off from 8:30 until 9:30 pm.
