Saturday night, officers from Reno Police Department, Sparks Police Department, Nevada Highway Patrol, Washoe County Sheriff’s Office and University of Nevada Police Department took part in a regional Street Racing Operation. Washoe County Sheriff’s RAVEN helicopter assisted. 113 citations were issued for various traffic related offenses. There was also one felony warrant arrest and one misdemeanor warrant arrest. The op was funded by the Office of Traffic Safety’s Joining Forces Grant with the goal of decreasing illegal street racing in Northern Nevada.
