I-80 Reopens After Big Rig Fire

I-80 eastbound at Wadsworth has reopened east of sparks after a big rig carrying used automobile batteries caught fire Monday night. The road was at least partially closed for almost 24 hours. No one was hurt, but a crew from a hazardous materials cleanup company remained on scene Tuesday afternoon, removing batteries one by one to make sure no acid spilled onto the road. The batteries and truck have since been removed. Crews from Pyramid Fire, North Lyon Fire and Truckee Meadows Fire helped fight the fire; the cause has not been determined.
