The NDOT plan to improve the Interstate 80/Interstate 580 interchange in Reno has the approval of the Federal Highway Administration. The project can now move to the next phase.
That will include construction of higher-speed ramps, additional interstate lanes in certain areas, reducing merging and weaving at the interchanges, and enhancements to the interstate shoulder, landscape and other aesthetics. The project will be built in phases through 2039 as additional funds become available. The first phase will realign eastbound I-80 lanes between Wells Avenue and the Spaghetti Bowl and widen the eastbound I-80 to southbound I-580 ramp to two lanes.
