The state supreme court has rejected the latest appeal of killer Jeremiah Bean. Bean was convicted of five murders, in the deaths of four people in Fernley and one in Mustang in May 2013. The motive behind the killings was robbery to support a drug habit. Bean killed Bob and Dotty Pape, and set their house on fire, he used a truck he stole from them, to drive to Mustang where he killed Eliazar Graham, then came back to Fernley and killed Lester Lieber and Angie Duff. The defense had argued he should have been convicted only of second degree murder because of diminished mental capacity. The court said no. He has been sentenced to death.
