The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, Join Together Northern Nevada, and their community partners will provide an opportunity to rid homes of unused, and unwanted prescription drugs Saturday. Medicines that remain in home cabinets are highly susceptible to misuse and abuse. And a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends. From 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. this Saturday, residents can bring unneeded prescription drugs, prescription liquids, pet medications and “sharps.” The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked: In Reno, go to Raley’s at 18144 Wedge Parkway; Reno Elks Lodge, 597 Kumle Lane; Smith’s at 175 Lemmon Drive; Smith’s at 750 South Meadows Parkway; and WalMart at 5260 West 7th Street. In Sparks it’s Smith’s 1255 Baring Boulevard. Permanent drop boxes for unused or expired medications are located in the lobbies of the Reno Police Department, Sparks Police Department and Washoe County Sheriff’s Office.
