Two Women Died While Climbing in The Sierra

Two women died climbing Red Slate Mountain in the Sierra Wednesday. The sheriff’s office identified the deceased as 34-year-old Jennifer Shedden of Mammoth Lakes and 22-year-old Michelle Xue of Los Angeles. The pair set out from Convict Lake on Saturday and were supposed to return Sunday night. Search crews and their friends found them on Monday about midway down the gully at about 12,400 feet. It appears they were struck by a large rock fall.
